Independent web design studios bring a special kind of personal touch and focus

Independent Studio since 2020

As an independent web design studio, I’ve had the freedom to build JDD in a way that aligns with my personal journey, evolving alongside my skills and experiences. Starting this studio wasn’t a straightforward path, it was shaped by a combination of ambition and uncertainty.

As a recent college graduate, I wanted to work at a boutique creative agency, but I often felt underqualified or misaligned with the brands I encountered. I was still discovering what kind of work I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it.

This period of exploration led me to envision what my ideal career could look like, which eventually became JDD.

Over the years, I’ve worked with creative, diverse individuals and businesses from various industries. While their goals, visions, and services differed, they all valued something unique: the experience of working with an independent studio. They appreciated the personal connection, the flexibility to adapt to their needs, and the deep collaboration that comes from working with someone fully invested in their success.

This is what sets independent studios apart, even amidst the growth of large, multi-teamed agencies offering extensive, all-inclusive services. That’s not to say larger agencies don’t provide personalized help, but independent studios bring a unique level of personal connection and focus. Many of us cater to niche audiences, offering highly curated services and resources tailored to specific needs. The impact of this personalized approach can be profound.

At JDD, I’ve embraced a niche focus. You’ll see “Webflow” mentioned across my website because it’s the platform I’ve dedicated myself to mastering. It’s the foundation of my work, and I choose to collaborate only with clients who are open to using this tool. My services are intentionally streamlined to focus exclusively on website creation, specifically for creative professionals like designers, artists, and makers. Many of my clients are independent themselves, which creates a natural synergy in our collaboration. They value the tailored experience I provide, and it’s deeply fulfilling to deliver work that feels like a true extension of their vision. While there are many reasons businesses choose to work with independent studios, the intimate, collaborative approach they offer often stands out. This focused, tailored experience enables clients to see their vision fully realized in a way that feels intentional and personal. Independent studios thrive on building strong relationships and delivering work that aligns deeply with their clients’ unique needs. In a world of expansive agencies, these smaller teams offer something distinct: a creative partnership that’s as meaningful as the work itself.
